Another cosplay idea I have and am wanting to make in time for Newcastle Comic Con in March (as well as Crona Gorgon) is Gogo Yubari of Kill Bill!
I have always loved her character and her kickass Japanese schoolgirl look so I'm really excited about replicating it!
I believe this will also be a very easy cosplay to complete, just like Crona.
The whole look consists of:
Long black or dark brown hair with a long, soft fringe
Natural makeup
A long sleeved white shirt
A length of red fabric tied into a bow at the neck
A classic single breasted school blazer with 2 white buttons
A school crest on the left pocket of the blazer
A grey, black and white tartan mid-thigh school skirt
Below-knee white sock
Completely white Nike trainers
Flail on a chain with spikes horizontally around it which change into circular blades

Hair Considering I have very long black hair and a blunt fringe I believe if I just let my fringe grow out to just below eyebrow length, I will be able to achieve Gogo's hair without the aid of a wig Although growing out my fringe may be a challenge for me as I'm a huge perfectionist and always trimming my fringe to keep it neat I will force myself not to trim it by giving my hair scissors to one of my housemates to keep until it's grown, and possibly even wearing my fringe pushed to the side until it starts to grow out so it's not straight and "precise" so I don't want to trim it every time there's stray hair! |
Shirt Beneath Gogo's blazer she is wearing a basic white shirt I didn't realise this was long sleeved until I seen a few photo's with the cuff's poking out from under the blazer's sleeves I will be able to purchase a white blouse from a local shop very easily for a very cheap price. | Makeup Gogo's makeup is very natural, which helps add to her "innocent" schoolgirl look Considering I shave my eyebrows off completely I will need to create very natural brown brows which will hide behind my fringe, as growing them out is not really an option I will contour my eye slightly with a light, natural shadow, to try and shape them like her eyes, with a slightly darker, "smokey" bottom lid I will apply a thin lick of mascara to my upper and particularly my lower lashes A slight pink tint will be added to my lips, with possible slight contouring to my top lip to make it appear more pronounced. |
Bow Tie Gogo's bow at the collar of her shirt just appears to be a length of deep red satin. I will be able to make one of these very easily by purchasing a slim strip of satin, sewing up all 3 edges, leaving a gap in the center of the longest length, so that I am able to turn the strip the "right way around" and then hand-sew the little gap up, which will be tucked away under my collar anyway, therefore it is unnoticeable. |
Blazer For the blazer I should be able to just purchase a school-like single breasted blazer with 2 buttons The buttons on a black blazer usually come in matching black so I will just be able to remove the buttons and replace them with white buttons to match Gogo's I will be checking charity shops and even school shops for a cheap blazer. I'm really wishing I'd kept my blazer from school now as it's identical to Gogo's, however I doubt it would fit me now anyway. |
Skirt For the skirt, I will be looking into how to make it myself as I've always wanted one of these skirt and would like to make a few of them in different colours Plus, I know that working with patterned fabrics are often quite hard so it'd be good to challenge myself a bit and get some practice with working with patterned fabrics. I would source some very similar fabric, if not identical, and refer to my pattern drafting books to make the correct pattern using my own measurements. I will probably make the waist elasticated to get an accurate but slightly adjustable fit to make it more comfortable to wear! |
Socks There are several different types of socks worn by Japanese school girls. Loose socks which sit lower down on the leg and tight-fitting knee-high socks are both very popular within Japanese schoolgirl culture. The specific ones worn by Gogo are tight-fitting, white, textured socks which end around 1-2 inches below the kneecap. | | Shoes The specific shoes worn by Gogo are a bit of a mystery, however, they were definitely by the brand Nike. I will be buying some plain white plimsolls for this as I do not wear trainers and so investing in Nike's would be a waste of money. I feel like just plain, white plimsolls will do a good job of resembling Gogo's shoes without breaking the bank! |
Flail I will also be replicating Gogo's weapon, the flail, also known as a mace, morning star, meteor hammer, ect. The original flail is on a very long chain and is made from solid, heavy metal, with spikes and chain wrapping around the ball. With the flick of a button (I'm assuming?) she is able to transform the spikes on her ball into crazy, circular blades. I have came across many tutorials on how different people have gone about making this weapon online and I will probably use a similar technique to this one or a mixture of several tutorials together. |
I intend to complete this and my Crona cosplay for the 28th of March, which is the first date of Newcastle Comic Con.
I will be wearing one outfit on the Saturday and the other on the Sunday.
I will post updates and photos on progress when I start, but first I need to collect together money and materials! :)
